Erland Studios Guidelines

Section 1: Basic Legal Terms
1.1: Definitions
- Erland Studios: The company Erland Studios, a subsidiary of Erland.fi.
- Guidelines, TOS, Terms Of Service, Policies, Rules: This document.
- Guidelines, Policy, Rule: A single rule or section of this document, often denoted in "1.2c"-format.
- User: A person using any service provided by Erland Studios.
- Staff, employee: A person employed by Erland Studios.
Section 2: Communications Guidelines
The following guidelines primarily apply to Discord, Slack and comment sections of our social media posts.
2.Addendum.1: Terminology
- Direct message: Message sent directly to a user, in contrast to messages sent on public servers.
- DM: See Direct message.
- Discord: A free-to-use messaging service.
- Discord server: A individual group of channels.
- Griefer: Troublemaker.
- Griefing: Causing unwanted destruction to other users' builds.
- Minecraft: A video game developed by Mojang Studios.
- Minecraft server: A multiplayer world running on a server that users can join.
- NSFL: See Section 2.3.
- NSFW: See Section 2.3.
- Private message: See Direct Message.
- Server:
- Minecraft: See Minecraft server.
- Discord: See Discord server.
- Terms of Service: The guidelines that users are legally bound to follow when using a service.
- ToS: See Terms of Service.
- Troll: Troublemaker.
You must follow the guidelines and ToS of the platform used to communicate.
You must also be over 13 years old or have parental permission to agree to these.
The official language of Discord servers under these guidelines is (British) English.
The official timezones of Discord servers under these guidelines are UTC, GMT/BST and EET/EST.
2.2: Spam
Spam is prohibited in all Discord servers.
Examples of spam include:
- Advertising in channels that do not allow it. See also guideline 2.7.
- Repeatedly sending the same or similar content.
- Excessive swearing.
- Sending unsolicited direct messages to other users.
2.3: NSFW, NSFL and other related topics
Definitions:
- NSFW (Not Safe For Work): Content not appropriate to be displayed at a office/store, usually referring to Porn.
- NSFL (Not Safe For Life/Lunch): Content that may be vomit-inducing, such as gore, injuries, shock videos.
We may also ban content which implies aforementioned content.
We do not allow:
- Excessive mentions of sexual topics.
- Sexual harassment, such as excessive mentions of genitals or inappropriate comments.
- Links to websites with such content.
- Screenshots of these websites are allowed as long as it doesn’t violate other rules
- Exception: Links to websites with mostly sfw content are allowed.
- Pictures with explicit or questionable content.
- Exception: Pictures stated to be explicit, but in reality are not.
2.4: Accusations, Brigading, Raiding and witch hunting
We do not permit accusations of the following without concrete evidence:
- Pedophilia.
- Queerphobia.
- Homophobia.
- Racism.
- Zoophilia.
While valid claims are acknowledged, baseless accusations are not allowed.
Additionally:
- Any planning, participating in, or encouraging raiding/brigading, whether directed at this server or others, is strictly prohibited.
- Witch hunting (hate targeted at specific groups) is forbidden, except in cases involving universally condemned groups, such as Nazis or terrorist organizations.
2.5: Dangerous imitable behaviour
We do not permit content which
- Shows the filmer in or near a situation or location hazardous to life.
- Recommends the viewer to commit dangerous or illegal acts.
We allow content which
- Contains unrealistic animations of hazardous situations
- Is done with the help of professionals (such as professional parkour, movie stunts, etc)
2.6: Content hazardous to view
We do not allow text, images or any other content that poses risks such as:
- Threats to eyesight.
- Risks for people with (photo-sensitive) epilepsy.
- Encouragement of actions hazardous to human life or property.
- Other forms of content that pose a risk to human life.
2.7: Advertising
2.8: Off-platform violations
Without concrete evidence, we are unable to act upon off-platform violations.

2.9: Impersonation and misrepresentation of identity
It is against the TOS to:
- Claim you are someone without being able to prove your identity.
- Use a picture of a real person as your profile picture without written consent, regardless of their identity or notability.
- Include personal details of someone else anywhere in your profile or messages without permission.
- Use a username similar to a existing user with intention to deceive, confuse or spread libel.
- Imitating a user in order to ridicule them.
2.10: Misinformation & disinformation
Misinformation is false or misleading information. Disinformation is misinformation spread with the intent to deceive.
It is against the TOS to:
- Spread intentional misinformation or disinformation.
- Spread unintentional misinformation or disinformation without correcting it.
- Spread misinformation or disinformation that violates our discrimination policy.
Examples of violations include:
- Singular they is a new concept.
- The earth is flat.
- The moon landing was faked.
Section 3: Branding
3.1: Logos and text

Logo 1:
Background: Black circle
Font: Asap/Lato. Black or the boldest available. Never serif font, always sans, display, monospace
Text position: Centered in the middle
Text color: Gradient of 2 main branding colors
Extra: The logo may contain additional symbols, such as a shield (Security Team)
Logo 2:
Background: Circle with an 45° gradient between 2 similar brand colors with a lighter hexagonal pattern that turns transparent in 45° gradient.
Font: Asap Black
Text position: Centered vertically and horizontally. The vertical axis may be modified to better fit the content.
Text color: Reverse of the background gradient or white.
Text style: A small outline with a small shadow at 45° angle.
Extra: The logo should not contain other symbols.
Small version: The text can be abbreviated and placed on a single line in the center. In other cases, the word "erland" must be on the first line.
Animations: The logo can be animated in a fitting way, however, the animation should not prevent readability or make the logo distracting from other content.

3.3: Video end cards
Videos produced, edited or filmed should have a End card which fulfils following requirements:
- Black background
— White or brand color text
- Title
- The top text should read “Directed/Produced/Edited/Created by"
- The top text can also transition between the options
- The bottom text should read “Erland Studios”, “Erland” or “Erland.fi”
- Footer text
- Should include links to Erland.fi
- Video variation info (if needed)
- Header text
- Should include the following video information in no particular order:
- Video resolution
- Video colorspace
- Video framerate
- Video production name
- Video length
3.4: Websites
Erland should be credited with the following text in footer in the most fitting language:
- Tämän nettisivun kehitti erland.fi.
- This website was created by erland.fi.

Section 5: Advertisements
5.1: Definition of Advertisement.
An advertisements is any piece of content filling any of the following requirements.
- The content is intended to suggest the viewers of the content to invest in/view/buy 3rd-party products.
- The inclusion of the content has been paid for with any currency or physical/virtual products/services.
5.2 Announcing advertisements
If a video contains content which fills any of the requirements set in section 5.1, the content must be announced using all applicable methods:
- A pricetag symbol visible during the advertisement and shortly at the beginning of the video
- The symbol should be placed in the top corner of the video
- The symbol should be digitally added as physical photos may get obscured
- The symbol should be large enough and have enough contrast to be clearly visible
- Voiceover at beginning of the video/audio
- "This video contains a paid sponsorship/advert by (Replace with brand)."
- VO must be subtitled
- Voiceover before the advert
- Before: "Following part is an paid advert."
- Text on screen
5.3 Banned advertisements
An advertisement which displays, mentions, or in any way references any of the following topics:
- Medical/Recreational Drugs, medicine and/or other controlled substances.
- Alcohol, tobacco, electrical cigarettes, vapes and/or snus.
- Gambling, betting, mystery boxes, mystery items and/or pay for tickets giveaways.
- Counterfeit items, such as cash (bills/coins) in any currency, passports, IDs, certifications, licenses and license plates.
Product may also not be advertised if it is:
- an cash grab
- a scam
- related to a Multi-level marketing scheme
- related to a pyramid scheme
- low quality
- unethical
- illegal
5.4 Things to note
- Advertisements should always be announced.

7.1 Beehives
Physical beehives (natural or artificial) including bee colonies and parts of beehives are prohibited in all servers, server racks, datacenters and offices owned by Erland Studios and all of it’s subsidiaries.
